Family Law Divorce Services
Child support and alimony are typically calculated using a spouse’s wages. Sometimes these wages are easy to understand. In other cases, a spouse may be underemployed, out of work, injured, or disabled at the time of the divorce. A vocational expert is trained to estimate earning capacity without bias.

What should I expect during a family law divorce consultation?
A Vocational Expert will discuss the key aspects of your case, the documentation required, and any pertinent court dates.
How is a vocational assessment helpful in a family law divorce case?
A vocational assessment determines earning potential by evaluating an individual’s potential to work. This information can be crucial if a spouse is underemployed, out of work, or disabled at the time of the divorce. We recommend discussing your specific situation with an experienced family law attorney.

What is imputed income?
Imputed income means to assign income to an individual. The courts may assign income for the purpose of calculating child support or alimony. The court may impute income when presented with “evidence of income from available employment for which the party is suitably qualified by education, experience, current licensure, or geographic location…” See§ 61.30(2)(b), Fla. Stat. (2021).
